Airline Credit Cards-Forget them
I am telling everyone to dump and forget virtually all airline credit cards. I have nothing against getting that new airline card with the 20K mile bonus and 1 year free. After that dump those turkeys. The problem is the airlines themselves. Peter Greenberg (The Travel detective)calls most frequent flier programs a lottery where everyone is a loser. The problem is that once you earn the miles on these cards the airline decides when and how you can use the miles. The so called 25K award for a roundtrip might not be available. The airliens devalues these miles by telling you you need 50K miles for that award. Or some other other nonsense. Sure if you want to go to Cleveland in the winter that should not be a problem. I have seen extremely difficulty in getting standard awards with Continental airlines and Delta. At least when you earn points with other card programs you know the value of those points from year to year and there is not alot of devaluing of the points. Shop those reward cards as well. In a future entry I will write about some of my current card favorites.
