Beware of Ads Touting Sale Items

I have seen a number of ads where they list an item as being on sale when it is not on sale. They show an original price that is higher than normal average retail. Department stores seem to do this more often in their ads. They sell the item at basically the going rate and call it a sale item. One good way to check is search the product online to see what it is offered at online. Don’t be shy about asking retailers to match deals you see online. The online world can be tough competition and many of the websites charge no tax and have reduced or free shipping this time of year. Also don’t be afraid to get any store to pricematch another store ad. Even if the item says limited supplies etc. The stores might be so crowded that they match you, just to get rid of you and get the sale. There will be plenty of sales between now and Christmas.
