Online Services Dirty Tricks-Billing

Online service/subscription companies have some of the worst customer service and policies. One of the largest offenders in the past was AOL which would make it hard or almost impossible to cancel their services. Since that time many online companies/services have been working on ways to confuse and rip off the public. One such way is self renewing contracts. A self renewing contract is a consumers worst enemy. These companies should be forced legally to email notify you that the services will self renew before they do. At least a month in advance in my opinion. One recent trick I found is the company self renews the contract and charges the customer late in the month for th upcoming year or monthly charges. If the consumer calls to complain, they state they will cancel but will deduct th current month of service. Otherwise a customer might call up and the start of the month and they would probably cancel everything. This should be illegal. Previously I wrote about self renewing contracts. Health clubs are notorious for this practice. This is something that needs to be on the state level if not on a federal level. It would also cost these companies a great deal. You should have to confirm with a month to go or the service should be canceled.
